There is still kind generosity out there

or the blatherings of a woman who has too much to do and not enough time

This had been just another day of waking up, having my cup or two of coffee, go through DA submissions, minor group admin stuff, work on a render and well, get dinner made for my boyfriend for him to take to work then get myself ready for work.

Then work is on the slow side, so the usual business going on. I see my regulars, talk with them, joke, and so on. I also see one of my regulars who comes in every Wednesday night to play her lottery. I have been waiting on her for over two years now and we have talked about many things over that time. Especially as she notes that I work hard and put in a lot of time at the store, to which I mentioned I have to in order to keep my head above water and keep Child Services off my back. I am one of the unlucky parents that has to pay child support, which when it was figured out, I got an outrageous number of back support that I had to pay on top of the monthly amount. (Frankly, I think NC is totally rigged for it so they make the non-custodial parent pay through the nose and for YEARS!)

And then I went on about my schooling and it got too expensive for me to keep driving to the main campus in town to wind up wasting time and gas if I have instructors that didn't show up for class. When I was in school, my student loans were on pause. Doing student loans is one my biggest regrets and I got talked into it by the recruiter at Art Institute. I always told myself I wasn't going to go through student loans for undergraduate work. So, to make a long story short, she made a promise to me that if she hit the jackpot in the lottery, she would help me pay off my student loans and give a little extra afterwards. She keeps getting her tickets, and keeps hoping each time.

But tonight, we were talking about my errand to the DMV and the headache of the new Tags and Taxes law in this county, where it really sets up people of lower income to not pay on time because you look at $100+ to get this all done in one go. I'm one of those that couldn't get all the money together in time to pay everything when the time for renewing my vehicle registration came. Not until now, when I had major OT from work lately. I never mentioned I was short of money, not at all, but she came back into the store after going to her car and handed me $100 to help me pay the taxes and registration!

Needless to say, I was surprised and floored by her generosity and kindness! All she told me was that when she wins that jackpot and pays my loans, I pay her back. It is rare to find people this generous that will offer to help you out as you struggle in life. I have had this happen once before by a former boss when I was in danger of having my vehicle being repossessed. I was a good worker and her best graphic designer, it was paramount to have wheels in order to get to work. So, she helped me out by giving me the payment I needed to keep the vehicle from being taken. Her stipulation was that when the time comes and a person needs help like I did, that I pay it forward.

I'm not a very religious person but I am what I call, spiritual. I have my brand of faith which suits me well. To have been blessed by two generous and kind ladies in my lifetime, I really feel humbled. This tells me in one respect, that someone is watching out for me and when I least expect it, I get a little boost from unexpected sources.

Even now, as I relate this to all my watchers, I am still stunned and not quite sure what to do to render this kindness justice. It is just nice to know that there are still kind, generous folks out there that think nothing of helping out someone who needs it. I know I am too proud to ask for help and will suffer along in making do with what I have, even if it gets me close to trouble.

So, this pales in comparison but...I will offer two print resolution works, any style (portrait, scene, couple, etc..) of what you wish, to the first two interested persons to comment. Not necessarily the first to comment, mind you, but only if you are interested in taking up this offer. ;)

Now, I'm signing off for the night!
